Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get music onto my Apple Watch?

1. Open WristMusic on your Mac and drag music files into the library. 2. Make sure your Mac and Apple Watch are on the same WiFi network. 3. Open WristMusic on your Watch — it will automatically discover your Mac. 4. Tap to sync your music. That's it!

What audio formats are supported?

WristMusic supports MP3, M4A, AAC, and ALAC files.

My Watch can't find the Mac. What do I do?

Make sure both devices are on the same WiFi network. The Mac app must be open and running. If you're on a corporate or guest network, Bonjour discovery may be blocked — try a home network instead.

Do I need my iPhone nearby to sync?

Your iPhone needs to be nearby for the Watch to connect to WiFi (this is an Apple Watch limitation). Once music is synced, you can leave your phone behind — playback is fully offline.

How much music can I store on my Watch?

It depends on your Apple Watch model and available storage. WristMusic shows a storage meter so you can see exactly how much space is available. Most Watch models have 32GB of storage, and music typically uses 3-10 MB per song.

Does WristMusic use any cloud services?

No. Everything happens locally on your WiFi network. No accounts, no cloud storage, no internet required for syncing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use WristMusic with Bluetooth headphones?

Yes! Pair your AirPods, Beats, or any Bluetooth headphones directly to your Apple Watch. Then play music from WristMusic — no phone needed.

Is the Mac app required?

Yes, the Mac companion app is needed to import and manage your music library. The Mac app runs a lightweight server that your Watch connects to for syncing.

System Requirements

Apple Watch Series 6 or later, watchOS 10+
iPhone iOS 17+ (needed for connectivity)
Mac macOS 14 Sonoma or later
Network Same local WiFi network
