Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 24, 2026

Short version: StrayFiles runs entirely on your Mac. It collects no data, makes no network connections, and has no analytics. Your files never leave your machine.

1. What We Collect

Nothing. StrayFiles does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, usage data, crash reports, or analytics of any kind.

2. How the App Works

StrayFiles scans your local filesystem to identify files associated with installed applications, npm global packages, and Homebrew formulae. All scanning occurs entirely on your Mac. No file paths, filenames, or any other information is ever sent to any server.

3. File System Access

StrayFiles requires Full Disk Access (granted via macOS System Settings) to scan your Mac. This permission is used solely to read file metadata and move files to the Trash at your direction. We have no remote access to your Mac or files at any time.

4. Purchase & Payment

Purchases are processed by Paddle. When you buy StrayFiles, your payment information is handled entirely by Paddle — we never see or store your credit card details. Please review Paddle's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle payment data.

5. No Third-Party SDKs

StrayFiles contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporting tools, or tracking libraries of any kind. It is a self-contained native macOS application.

6. Children's Privacy

StrayFiles is a developer utility not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify users via the App or website.
